Versace Mansion now a hotel
The rococo Versace Mansion in the heart of South Beach remains an icon of fascination. The Versace Mansion in South Beach, Florida is now a 10-room hotel called The Villa by Barton G..Once the home of fashion designer Gianni Versace, the now beachfront villa is the creation of Miami restaurateur Barton G. Weiss. The property is on an elaborate Roman palazzo with stained glass, frescoes, and colorful mosaics. Gianni Versace's former bedroom has a nine-foot-wide bed, two balconies and seven closets.
Luxuriate in one of the Villa's 10 custom suites featuring king sized beds or custom double king beds, custom Italian marble oversized bathrooms with two shower heads, expansive closet space, separate living rooms or sitting areas and balconies or patios. Enjoy exclusive access to The Thousand Mosaic Pool and two private lounges. Worship the sun or gaze at the stars from The Rooftop Lounge. Dine in The Villa's restaurant, set in the pebble-mosaiced Dining Room with a focus on refined continental cuisine, or choose to breakfast or lunch en suite or poolside.
Amenities at The Villa include personal British-trained butlers, Frette linens, Thierry Mugler toiletries, Kindle e-readers with complementary electronic newspaper delivery, Sonos systems and wifi throughout the property. The mansion, where Versace was gunned down in 1997, has had its up and downs. In 2000, Peter Loftin paid $19 million for the house, turning it into a private social club called Casa Casuarina, with memberships starting at $50,000. Later, the house was open for public tours, for $50. Mr. Loftin remains the majority owner, but the club and tours have been canceled under Mr. Weiss' management.
The price of a room starts at $2,100.
