Candy&Candy Penthouse in Monaco Sells for €240m
Candy&Candy Penthouse in Monte Carlo has been sold for €240,000,000 to an "unnamed Middle Eastern investor". The historic building, which sits directly above Monte Carlo's marina, is one of the best known in the principality, dating back to the pre-war glory days of Monaco. The apartment "La Belle Epoque" comprises the top two floors of the building and was the home of Edmond Safra, the financier and philanthropist. The secretive billionaire banker aged 67, died alongside his loyal nurse, locked in a security room in the penthouse, after a fire was started by a servant in 1999. The flat was home to both brothers, who are domiciled in Monaco. They will remain in the principality where their yacht, Candyscape II, is moored, and are understood to have found a new residence. The property has been sold on a 97-year lease.
